True Story Of A Self-Made Businessman

This blog is created for a special purpose.I will be sharing the story of a Jewelery shop owner who struggled a lot in his life and finally succeeded.Mr. Shanti Ram Maji, owner of the jewelery shop named "Shanti Jewelers" in Sector 22,Chandigarh shared his past experiences and also gave some useful business tips and strategies.
Mr. Shanti Ram Maji hails from Kolkata. He came to Chandigarh in early 1980's in search of some work.He belonged to a very poor family and didn't have any source of income. So he started working in jewelery shops and from there itself he learnt the art of making jewelery. He worked in many shops till 1985.During this course,he was exploited everywhere. There were days when he didn't have any money. He didn't eat for 2-3 days.At some shops where he worked,he didn't get the wages. After years of struggling and torment, he finally in 1985 deployed his own business. It was his sheer hardwork and his power of grasping management techniques that made it possible. He started with a one room shop. Now owns a big shop with around 42 employees working for him. When asked what are the essentials for running a successful business,he answered that you need to have the complete knowledge of the business that you want to do.He also gave an advice to the students who want to setup their own business that treat your customer as God.He follows the policy that every customer is equal and should be treated with due respect irrespective of the price he pays to buy a product.
This is the life of Shanti Maji who started from litrelly zero and now has reached such heights of success. At present,he has an annual turnover of about 10 crores and he plans to achieve a turnover of 20 crores in the next 3 years.
The struggle in the initial years of Shanti Maji paid him dividends and paved the way for a successful life.
